Invented in the 1850s, Queen’s Puzzle originally challenged a player to place eight queens on a standard chessboard so that no two queens could attack each other.
But, as simple as the puzzle was for humans, it was a hard nut to crack for the artificial intelligence.
FYI: How to ace Queen’s Puzzle?

Put one queen in each row, so that no two queens are in the same
column and no two queens are in the same diagonal.
There are 92 solutions out of 4,426,165,368 possible arrangements of eight queens on an 8 x 8 board.
But, the problem presents a complex challenge for mathematicians, especially when the board is an 8 x 8 sized one.
Recently, the researchers from the university of St Andrews, UK openly challenged anyone who can develop a computer application. Anyone who can develop a computer application to solve the puzzle will be rewarded 1 million dollars. Why?
The computer application would be so powerful that it could also help in decrypting the toughest security on the internet.
Why is any computer unable to solve it?
how old is mankind on earth
According to a report, the computer programs take a “brute force” approach to the problem being human wiki werewolf
The computer goes through every possible permutation, systematically. The total number of combination can reach up to a big number.
Taking an example, a computer can give out 2.34 quadrillion possible solutions, or 234,000,000,000,000,000 which further confuses the computer.
Once the board’s dimension reaches 1,000 x 1,000, and with 1,000 queens to place, computers get borked, sinking into an apparently endless abyss of calculations.
The prize will be awarded by Clay Mathematics Institute in the US is available to anyone who can solve the puzzle. The study was published today in the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research.
